Anubis + The Feather of Truth ~ yoga leggings

Jackal-headed god, Anubis (god of death, embalming, mummification, mortuaries, cemeteries, tombs, the underworld, etcetera) is also recognized as the ‘Guardian of the Scales’ and presides over the the final, most crucial test of the dead’s journey into the afterlife.

Ancient Egyptians believed man’s heart revealed all their good and bad deeds.

In The Weighing of the Heart of the Soul ceremony, the heart is placed on a scale and weighed against the Feather of Ma’at  - (a winged goddess, representing truth, harmony, justice and balance).

If one's heart is lighter than the Feather of Truth, they will survive the underworld and continue into the afterlife .

If their heart proves heavier, they will be consumed by soul-eating, ‘Devourer of the Dead’- Ammit; a crocodile-headed, lion-bodied, hippopotamus-hindquartered goddess of the underworld.
