"Of suns and worlds I've nothing to be quoted;
How men torment themselves, is all I've noted." ~ Mephistopheles
From Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's Faust (Prologue In Heaven).. i wish i could tell you who illustrated this piece. It was from a nineteenth century print of the book I had bought as a gift for someone very special to me at the time. I was much taken by the magnificent images, that i took photographs of some of them, before carefully wrapping with brown paper and black ribbon. I recently stumbled upon a few of these photographs and thought this one in particular, would look rather fetching printed on textile.
